Shaykh Mahmoud Al-Assal is an Egyptian native Arabic speaker and a distinguished graduate of the Alexandria Institute of Qirāʾāt at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. He completed all his academic studies with exceptional excellence, consistently achieving top rankings across all programs.
He earned his Ijāzah in Tajwīd and the Ḥafṣ narration over a period of two years, graduating with an Excellent grade and ranking first in his cohort. He later completed the Advanced Qirāʾāt Program, obtaining the Ten Qirāʾāt Ijāzah over three years, once again graduating with an Excellent grade and securing first place.
Shaykh Mahmoud has been granted multiple Qur’anic Ijāzāt, including the narration of ʿĀṣim (2007), Warsh (2010), Qālūn and Abū Jaʿfar (2012), Ibn ʿĀmir (2015), Ḥamzah (2015), and the complete Ten Qirāʾāt (2016). All of these were received from Shaykh Yousry Mohamed Awad. In addition, he holds Ijāzāt in the renowned Tajwīd poems Al-Jazariyyah and Al-Tuhfah, awarded by prominent contemporary scholars.
With over 13 years of experience in teaching, Shaykh Mahmoud has taught Qur’an and Qirāʾāt at several well-known Qur’anic institutions. His teaching background includes instructing non-Arabic speakers online in English, as well as teaching at major Qur’anic institutes in Alexandria.
Since 2019, he has served as the Director and Co-Founder of Shaykhi Academy, where he also holds the position of Senior Instructor. His teaching responsibilities include advanced Tajwīd studies, Ijāzah and Qirāʾāt programs, Qur’an memorization, and Qur’an and Arabic reading courses.
